Hangar Lane
Question No: 940 / 2005
Richard Barnes
What checks are undertaken by TfL to ensure
that the area of Waldegrove Road and Hangar
Lane remains properly lit at all times, both
for road traffic and pedestrians?
The street lighting on Hanger Lane is
inspected weekly to detect outages, and
routine maintenance to replace all the lamps
was last undertaken on 17 May 2005. There
have been outages at two streetlights on
Hanger Lane on either side of its junction
with Waldegrave Road. The first column to
the north of the junction had been hit by a
vehicle, is now replaced and is back
working. The column to the south had an
electricity supply fault and while attended
to by the electricity company requires their
further repairs, which EDF are addressing.
Safer Neighbourhood Teams
Question No: 942 / 2005
Richard Barnes
Could the Mayor please update me as to the
progress of rolling out the 5 new Safer
Neighbourhood Teams per Borough. What
percentage of the new teams are additional
staff and what percentage is taken from
existing Police resources, by Borough?
I have been informed by the MPS that there
are currently 253 step change funded Safer
Neighbourhoods (SN) teams in London, meaning
157 of the proposed 160 SN teams for 2005/6
have already been launched.
The remaining three SN teams will be
launched within the next few weeks. This
means that there is on average eight SN
teams per borough with five launched in the
current financial year.
Two thirds of the teams come from new staff
and one third from existing staff.
